Maintaining good health requires care and attention. Your annual physical exam permits you to take account of your health status each year,  detecting health risks and addressing them in order to avoid complications.

At our office, in advance of your visit, you'll complete a written Health Risk Assessment (HRA) questionnaire and submit it for Dr. Mikail to review before seeing you.
The doctor will then discuss  the results of your HRA with you at your visit and provide personalized counseling on how best to promote your health and prevent disease.

You will also receive (if applicable):
  • A comprehensive history and physical examination
  • Blood pressure and obesity screening
  • Vision screening
  • Hearing screening
  • Orders for lab tests and/or imaging, which may include:
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Complete Metabolic Profile (blood glucose level, liver function tests, kidney function tests, electrolyte levels)
  • Lipid panel (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides)
  • Hemoglobin A1C (screening for Type II diabetes mellitus)
  • Thyroid Function Tests
  • Urinalysis
  • Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA level) (for men over 40)
  • Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) (colorectal cancer screening for patients over 50)
  • Bone Density Scan (DEXA) (for women at risk for osteoporosis)
  • EKG/Echocardiogram (for patients with cardiac symptoms or risk factors)
  • Screening Abdominal Aortic Ultrasound (for patients at risk for aneurysm)
  • Additional tests and/or referral to specialists if necessary, based on your age and health

Upon receipt of your test results, Dr. Mikail will meet with you again for a short visit, discussing all findings, giving you copies of your records, and providing further preventive counseling (such as dietary guidance) and instructions as needed.
